Also pharmacokinetic characteristics such as absorption, distribution, elimination may differ as well. Generic Avandia can be used only after consultation with your doctor.
Avandia is oral hypoglycemic drug, a thiazolidinediones derivative which belongs to a group of selective antagonists of nuclear receptor PPARG (peroxisomal proliferator activated receptor gamma). Generic Avandia improves the flow of metabolic process by reducing blood glucose, circulating insulin and free fatty acids. Avandia lowers blood glucose levels by increasing insulin sensitivity of adipose tissue, skeletal muscle and liver tissue.
Avandia improves the function of beta-cells, as evidenced by the increase in mass of pancreatic islets of Langerhans (pancreatic islets) and insulin. Rosiglitazone prevents the development of hyperglycemia, significantly slows the development of renal dysfunction in diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, does not stimulate the secretion of insulin by the pancreas and does not cause hypoglycemia.
One of the main features of Avandia consists in significant reduction of free fatty acids in the blood.
After oral administration generic Avandia is quickly absorbed into the blood circulation. The absolute bioavailability is 99%. Cmax in the blood plasma is achieved in 1 hour. Food intake decreases Cmax by 20-28% and prolongs Tmax until 1.75hours. Nearly 99.8% of indicated dosage binds to plasma proteins. Accumulation of rosiglitazone is not observed. Rosiglitazone is metabolized in the liver, metabolites does not have any significant pharmacological effects. The medication is eliminated with urine and faeces.
