It is a synthetic compound of the aromatic series, belonging to the class of fluorenones. It stimulates alpha, beta, gamma interferon production in the body. The core structures producing interferon in response to tilorone are intestinal epithelial cells, hepatocytes, T-lymphocytes, granulocytes. After ingestion the maximum production of interferon is defined in a sequence “liver-intestine-blood” after 4-24 hours. In human leukocytes tilorone induces the production of interferon whose level in the blood is 250 IU/ml.
It has immunomodulatory effect: it stimulates bone marrow stem cells, depending on a dose it increases antibody formation, increases the high avidity/low avidity antibodies ratio, reduces the degree of immunosuppression, restores the T-helper/T-suppressor ratio.
In the complex therapy: viral hepatitis A, B and C; infections caused by Herpes simplex viruses of types 1 and 2, Varicella zoster, cytomegalovirus; infectious-allergic and viral encephalomyelitis (multiple sclerosis, leukoencephalitis, uveo-encephalitis); urogenital and respiratory chlamydia; nongonococcal urethritis; pulmonary tuberculosis.
Treatment and prevention of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections.
Pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding), children under 7 years of age, increased sensitivity to tilorone.
It is not recommended to use tilorone in doses higher than recommended ones, to avoid possible short-term depletion of immunocompetent cells.
In the complex therapy of neuroviral infections tilorone is used under medical supervision.
Tilorone is compatible with antibiotics, traditional means of treatment of viral and bacterial diseases.
Amixin Pregnancy and lactation
Tilorone is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
Amixin Side effects
Possible: short-term chills, allergic reactions.
In some cases: dyspeptic symptoms.
Amixin Application in children
It is contraindicated for children under 7 years of age.
