Freshly squeezed fruit juice minimizes the risk of obesity.

Study Group of the University of Minnesota found that  freshly squeezed fruit juice helps to prevent obesity in people and reduce the risk of diabetes.
The result of the investigation was obtained from 14 thousands of Americans both women and men over 19 years of age. The results of the study were published in the journal Experimental Biology.

In the course of the study, researchers concluded that the use of daily fresh fruit juice (250 ml) helps to reduce the risk of obesity by 38% and diabetes by 52%

Garlic can help protect against cancer

According to a new study conducted by American scientists, garlic can slow down and prevent the formation of carcinogens.
A high amount of garlic in the diet can slow the process of nitrosation in the body. Due to these processes some of the substances contained in food are converted into carcinogens. In most cases nitrosation is frequently associated with the consumption of nitrates, which can be found in meat, sometimes in some vegetables, fruits, as well as contaminated by agricultural or industrial waste water.

A substance contained in bananas may protect against HIV

BanLec – a lectin represents a protein which is able to bind to sugars. Banana lectin is able to suppress HIV infection, preventing the penetration of the virus into the body. According to scientists, BanLec affects the protein shell that surrounds the genetic material of the HIV virus.

However, the main problem of HIV consists in virus mutation making HIV virus resistant to drugs. According to the study the presence of lectins makes difficult for the viruses to mutate.

The study is based on the fact that singing is engaged in another brain area, rather than for speech. In case when speech center in the brain is damaged, speech, nevetheless, can be restored the center of singing instead of it.

A happy marriage reduces the risk of stroke in men

According to one study which involved more than 10,000 men aged  1963 to 1997 a happy marriage helps to reduce the risk of stroke  and other cardiovascular complications in men.

Scientists found that the risk of stroke for single men is 64% higher than in that of married ones. Then there was a survey, in which men were supposed to determine whether their marriage is successful. It was found that 3.6% of participants believed their marriage unhappy. The risk of stroke in this group was more than 60% higher as well.

One of the study’s authors say honestly that he could not exactly explain this effect how happy family life influence cardiovascular system.

Others explain it in particular that a loving wife supports her husband in the struggle with risk factors for stroke, for example, forcing him to quit smoking and manage with excess weight by practicing sports or eating a healthy diet.
Unfortunately, such studies have not been carried out in women, although the results would be very curious. Many of the study’s authors believe that they should be similar to those obtained in this study.

Foods rich in potassium such as bananas, potatoes and leafy greens can reduce the risk of stroke and coronary heart disease.

This results were obtained by Italian scientists which analyzed 10 studies with a total number of participants 280 000 for a period of 5 to 19 years.
